A brief description of the history of the village, a time line of
what happened when in the village and a Roll of Honour in
remembrance of those from the village who gave their lives in the
World Wars. About 2 miles South of Barton-under-Needwood an
exciting memorial is taking shape the National Memorial Arborteum
which commemorates the past by creating a permanent and living
gift for the future.
Anybody wanting to read more about the
History of the village will need to look at "Under the
Needwood Tree" a glimpse into the history of
Barton-under-Needwood by Steve Gardner, which was published to
commemorate the Parish Council Centenary.
Another useful pamphlet
is "A
Promenade through historical Barton-under-Needwood" a
Village Guide by Jeff Pattison, which was published in 1999 by
Barton Civic Society to commemorate the millennium.
